The Story Behind Making One of Our Most Versatile Performance Bib Shorts Even Better
Every great cycling product begins with a problem. Sometimes it’s obvious: a jersey that runs too warm on long climbs or a jacket that doesn’t pack down small enough. Other times, the product is already performing exceptionally well—but riders, designers and product developers know there’s still room to improve.
That’s where the latest Flyte Bib began. Not because something was wrong. Because we believed something good could become even better.
Great Products Should Never Stand Still
Cycling apparel has evolved dramatically over the last decade. Fabrics have become lighter. Chamois technology has improved. Manufacturing techniques continue to advance. Most importantly, riders are spending more time in the saddle than ever before.
That means expectations change. What felt exceptional five years ago may simply feel good today.
As designers, that’s exciting. Our goal isn’t to redesign products for the sake of launching something new. Our goal is to make every ride a little more comfortable, a little more efficient and a little more enjoyable than the ride before it. The Flyte Bib gave us another opportunity to do exactly that.
Listening Before Designing
One of the most valuable tools in product development isn’t software. It’s conversation.
Every season we hear from riders logging thousands of miles on roads, gravel and indoor trainers. Some are racing at the highest level. Others are chasing personal goals on weekend group rides.
Different riders.
Different terrain.
Different priorities.
Yet certain themes begin to emerge.
Long-distance riders wanted even greater comfort during all-day adventures. Competitive riders wanted a bib that disappeared beneath them during high-intensity efforts. Everyone wanted improved breathability without sacrificing support. Those conversations became our design brief.
Every Change Had a Purpose
When riders see a new product, it’s easy to notice what’s different. What matters more is why it’s different.
Every improvement began with one question: How can we make long rides even more comfortable?
Improved Fabrics
Fabric selection influences nearly every aspect of how a bib short performs—from compression and durability to breathability and comfort.
For the latest Flyte Bib, we selected updated recycled performance fabrics that provide excellent muscle support while improving airflow during long efforts.
The goal wasn’t simply lighter fabric. It was smarter fabric.
Better Ventilation Where It Matters Most Long climbs.
Hot afternoons. Indoor training. These are the moments when ventilation becomes as important as aerodynamics.
Updated laser-perforated materials and highly breathable construction help move heat away from the body more efficiently, keeping riders more comfortable when the effort increases.
Shoulder Straps You Forget You’re Wearing
The best bib straps are the ones you never think about. We refined the shoulder strap construction to improve comfort, reduce bulk and create a secure fit that disappears once you’re riding.
It’s a small detail. But small details matter after four, six or eight hours in the saddle.
Comfort Starts With the Chamois
Ask experienced cyclists what matters most in a bib short, and the answer is almost always the same. The chamois.
The updated Flyte Bib features our premium Elastic Interface® Force Chamois, engineered to provide exceptional comfort across a wide range of riding positions and ride durations. Because the best rides end with tired legs—not unnecessary discomfort.
What We Didn’t Change
Sometimes the smartest design decision is leaving something alone.
Certain elements of the Flyte Bib had already earned the trust of riders, so we chose to preserve them. The fit remained performance-oriented.
The overall silhouette stayed clean and modern. The focus remained on creating a bib that performs across training rides, fast group rides, gran fondos and endurance events.
Innovation isn’t about changing everything. It’s about improving the right things.
Designed for More Than Race Day
Not every rider lines up at a start line.
Some chase sunrise before work. Some disappear onto gravel roads for six hours with friends. Others simply ride because it’s where they feel most alive.
The Flyte Bib was designed with all of them in mind. It’s built for riders who appreciate performance but also value comfort, durability and thoughtful design.
Why We Build
Every product tells a story. Not just of fabrics and stitching, but of conversations with riders, countless design decisions and a shared belief that every mile deserves equipment worthy of the effort.
The newest Flyte Bib represents another step in that journey. Not because we needed something new. Because we believed riders deserved something better.
