OVERVIEW: The Torrent Vest is the ideal choice for those who want protection from rain and chill but do not want/need the added bulk of a jacket. It's not only completely waterproof, but lightweight (just 82 grams in a size small), form-fitting, and extremely breathable. The stretchy aero fit and super packability are added features for this vest that offers excellent protection against the wettest of conditions thanks to a DWR (durable water repellency), seam-sealed outer and waterproof zipper. Unlike most cycling rain garments on the market, the Torrent’s highly breathable knit fabric, combined with 37.5® Technology known for its ability to move heat and moisture away from the body, ensures a dry, heat-regulated interior over long distances.
"The Torrent vest is a pure protection from rain and chill. The sleeveless shell features a DWR laminated fabric with four-way mechanical stretch, a seam-sealed outer layer, and waterproof double zipper. Yet it weighs just 92 grams (size medium), and packs into the size of a tennis ball. The Torrent remains quite breathable, and combined with 37.5 fabric technology, which helps move heat and moisture away from the body, we found the piece to be comfortable and easy to regulate temperature over the course of long days in the saddle. The double zipper allows for increased regulation. The knit fabric is soft to the touch, and a bit quieter than some other stiff shell materials. It never has that cling-wrap feel to it, even when wet. Finally, the long tail provides ample coverage in the rear, to protect you from road spray."
FABRICS & CONSTRUCTION: The Torrent has been designed with our Aero fit to minimize flapping and movement while riding. This is possible due to the ultra-light, DWR laminated fabric with 4-way mechanical stretch. The knit outer fabric also makes this vest soft to the touch and quiet, especially when compared to hardshells with similar waterproof capabilities. Additionally, the Torrent features a long drop tail for optimal fit in your riding position. But, what sets this vest apart from others on the market is the use of woven Cocona particles from 37.5® Technology. Those amazing, little particles attract humidity and use your body heat to rapidly transfer perspiration from the interior to the exterior of the garment. This rapid transfer of moisture ensures a regulated body temperature and can increase athletic performance by as much as a 25% (results based on an independent University of Colorado study). You can actually see 37.5 in action by the dimpling that occurs on the fabric. This is when the hydrophilic particles are working to move the moisture to the exterior of the garment. When the vest dries, the material returns to its native state. It’s a bit like magic, and if you’ve ever worn a typical plastic rain jacket or vest, you’ll truly appreciate the cool dry interior of the Torrent. Learn more at www.thirtysevenfive.com.
The Torrent has also been finished with a 2-way, waterproof YKK zipper and 360 degree reflective taping for improved safety in low light conditions.
