Controller - Full Time - Aurora, Colorado
The Controller position is a key management position for Pactimo with overall responsibility for all accounting functions of the company. The controller is responsible for planning, organizing, coordinating, directing, and monitoring all aspects of the financial operations of the company; including accounting, payrolls, financial reporting/systems, budget, cash management and other finance-related functions. The controller also oversees the Information Technology (IT) and Human Resources (HR) functions for the company. This is a full-time exempt position with the understanding there will be times the workload will exceed what can be done during normal business hours.
The position will initially report to the CEO, with training provided by the CFO, who is planning to retire.
Key Responsibilities include:
Finance
• Working with (two) internal accountants to ensure integrity of all financial reporting, including the company’s general ledger, cash receipts and disbursements, monthly financial closings, and monthly financial statements for U.S. and U.K entities.
• Working with outside tax consultants to oversee all governmental tax and compliance reporting including the company’s annual tax returns (for all domestic and international entities), VAT and sales tax filings, payroll quarterly and annual filings and any other required governmental filings.
• Maintain excellent relationships with Banks and other financial institutions that support the company.
• Oversee, organize and complete annual budgeting process for the following calendar year by November 30 of each year.
• Provide regular internal financial reports as needed to include, but not be limited to updated rolling financial forecast for following twelve months (ideally) including a cash flow forecast; a quarterly actual versus budget review, gross margin reports for both Custom and Retail divisions.
• Provide financial analyses for new opportunities and ventures as directed by the CEO and Executive Chair.
• Manage banking relationships to ensure financing needs are intact and provide financial reports to the bank as needed.
• Provide financial reports for the annual Strategic Alignment Meeting
• Oversee monthly payroll processing
• Ensure company’s internal controls provide are appropriate to provide a high level of safety for company’s financial security.
• Work with insurance broker, to maintain company’s liability and workman’s compensation and other insurance as needed.
• Research and implement new systems which can provide improved financial information for the company.
• Participate in the management of the company by interacting with other members of management to provide financial insight into decisions, opportunities, and current operations.
• Take an increasingly pro-active position in identifying financial opportunities and risks tied to the overall strategy set by the management team.
• Assist the President/CEO with any additional financial reporting that the controller or President/CEO believes would allow the team to have greater insight into their business and make better decisions.
Information Technology
• Manage relationships with IT professionals to ensure integrity of technology used by the company to include:
o Internal servers and individual computers
o Cloud-based software and servers utilized by the company (e.g. Microsoft 365, remote QuickBooks, websites, etc.)
o Software developers
o Provide input on new software or hardware opportunities as they arise.
Human Resources
• Onboard new employees with appropriate documentation to fulfill state and federal government regulations.
• Maintain relationships with benefit providers, including medical, dental, life and 401K, providing necessary reports and working with CEO to evaluate renewals and changes, when needed.
• Maintain and communicate company policies and procedures to ensure employees are treated equitably in accordance with company’s mission.
Qualifications
• Minimum of Bachelor’s degree with a major in accounting.
• CPA a plus, but not required.
• Five plus years of increasing responsibility in accounting.
• Collaborative team player.
• Strong communication skills.
• Highly self-motivated.
