TWC’s 20 Leading Brands in Women’s Cycling

TWC’s 20 Leading Brands in Women’s Cycling

“The TWC Champions, showcasing the 20 leading brands in women’s cycling.

by Total Women’s Cycling

“The women’s cycling surge is apparent in the addition of new races, emerging pro teams, and the increase in availability of kit made specifically for women who ride. With increased interest comes a growing market – and there are a handful of brands who have seen that opportunity and grabbed it with both hands. These brands are the Champions of Women’s Cycling.

At TWC, we’ve always had a soft spot for Pactimo. We were so impressed with the quality of their Raptor shorts and the array of jersey designs they offer, that when we created our own custom Total Women’s Cycling kit, we asked them to print it.

One of the most noticeable elements of the Colorado giant’s offering in women’s cycling is the sheer size of it. Pactimo (at time of writing) have a staggering 79 women’s jersey options on their site, with designs ranging from the subtlety stylish to the bold and beautiful. There are of course matching shorts, jackets and accessories to go with those.

We know form data supplied by retailers that women like to browse before buying – and Pactimo make it easy. Ranges are clearly segregated into families with individual identities – you can choose between the simple ‘Match Your Ride‘ design which comes in an array of colours to complement your bike, whilst the ‘Artist Series‘ selection comprises of jersey styled to be louder. Like the statement pieces of your everyday wardrobe. A lot of these are a little bit Marmite – no doubt you’ll find plenty you hate, but with the volume of options you’d be hard pushed not to pick out something you liked.”

I tested out the new Women’s Apex kit recently, and was pretty impressed. The Apex Jersey is super lightweight and breathable. The back and sleeves are made of a mesh-like fabric that offers great air flow on hot days and wicks moisture really well, even while wearing a hydration pack.

The Apex MTB Shorts are new in the Pactimo lineup for 2016 and, as the company states, they are “designed with performance-driven minimalism in mind.” These shorts are meant to be comfortable, functional, and good-looking. I put them to the test this summer to see if they do indeed provide all these attributes.
