In 2007, Johnny Strong was serving as a mortarman with 2nd Battalion, 7th Marines in Iraq, assigned to Mobile Assault Company, Mobile Assault Platoon 2, Bravo Squad. On June 12th, Johnny Strong made the ultimate sacrifice while on a security patrol in Al Anbar Province. He was shot and killed by an enemy sniper, just two-weeks after his twenty second birthday.
In Johnny’s memory, former platoon member and friend Jay Knight is cycling with Denny Salisbury across the country this summer.
Johnny always dreamed of working as a video game programmer and loved gaming. With that in mind, Jay thought it only appropriate that Johnny be honored by a ride that started and ended at two video game trade shows: PAX East in Boston and PAX Prime in Seattle.
The Pax 2 Pax Bike Ride further honors Johnny’s memory with all raised money being donated to Child’s Play, a game industry charity dedicated to improving the lives of hospitalized children through toys and games.
The route is approximately 4,400 miles and was planned allowing visits along the way to many hospitals that are recipients of Child’s Play donations. Pactimo is excited that Jay and Denny will be making a stop at Children’s Hospital in Denver, CO on July 6th, and look forward to meeting these two amazing men in person. Pactimo is also donating cycling clothing for the Pax2Pax Bike Ride in memory of Johnny Strong.
“As a former Marine and combat veteran, I was moved by Jay’s dedication to his fallen brother,” said Tony Kelsey, Marketing Director, Pactimo. “I have only read about Johnny Strong, but he sounds like a kind and gentle soul, and he gave everything for his country and fellow Marines. I knew we had to throw support behind Jay and his cause to honor Johnny.”
We encourage you to support the Pax 2 Pax Bike Ride.

Together with Water.org, we have helped empower smart women like Aisyah through access to safe water.
Aisyah is a wife, a mother, and a farmer. Most critical to all of her roles is time. Asiyah explained, “Time to work my rice fields means more money I can make for my family; our life is better.” As a smart business woman growing one of Indonesia’s most desired crops, Aisyah recognized lack of access to water at home as the main obstacle keeping her from having the time needed to farm.
