The Wheels4Water Ride is Underway

June 03, 2014

Justin Ahrens and Brian MacDonald are now underway from the Atlantic Ocean to the shores of Lake Michigan (1,000 miles) for a life-changing cause.

In collaboration with Lifewater, a nonprofit working towards solutions for the world’s water crisis, their Wheels4Water ride will provide an entire Ugandan community water for life

Here is their account of Day 4 on the ride, mostly taken from Brian’s perspective on the road.

Just two guys, using their skills and riding their bikes to make a difference.

When confronted with the harsh realities of the worldwide water and sanitation crisis, it’s natural to feel overwhelmed. 800 million people around the world don’t have safe water. 2.5 billion lack access to sanitation resources. Every 21 seconds a child dies from water-related illnesses. The numbers are staggering and wearying.

How do you even begin to address this crisis?

Justin and Brian don’t assume to have all the answers, but, with the help of Lifewater International, they do have a few first steps figured out. Addressing the clean water and sanitation crisis across the world will have indefinite effects on disease, school attendance, women’s livelihoods, and the economic wellbeing of developing countries.

Pactimo is thrilled to be the cycling clothing partner for Wheels4Water.

It was truly an honor to be selected as the clothing partner for this fantastic ride. Each day the guys will be wearing different custom kits, commemorating sponsors who donated to support their cause. We encourage you to follow Wheels4Water and to donate to support their worthwhile adventure. Become a part of the story: 1,000 miles for 1,000 people.

Surviving DKXL - The 350-mile Dirty Kanza!

April 29, 2019

In 2018, Dirty Kanza organizers added a more extreme option to the event: the 350-mile DKXL. This feat of endurance pits riders against rough roads and weather that can swing from oppressive heat to hailstorms and headwinds. Participants ride through an entire day and night with no support other than what they can carry or find at stores along the route.

"Most people have experienced injuries or circumstances that have prevented us from riding temporarily and know well the frustration and fear that comes along with those dark days. We count the minutes and hours until we can get back out there, doing what we need to do."
