Prostate Cancer Awareness Project Announced as Pactimo’s August 10in10 Campaign Selection

August 01, 2013

GREENWOOD VILLAGE, CO August 1, 2013 – Pactimo, a Denver based provider of premium cycling and triathlon apparel, is excited to announce the Prostate Cancer Awareness Project (PCAP) as their August 10in10 campaign selection.  The 10in10 campaign was designed with the goal of benefitting ten non-profit organizations in 2013 and commemorates Pactimo’s tenth year of operations.

Prostate cancer is the second most common cancer among men in the United States, and almost 30,000 men die each year from the disease.  Early detection is the single most important determinant of survival.  If the cancer is found early and has not yet spread, the five-year survival rate is nearly 100%.  To promote the importance of timely detection, PCAP has developed the Prostate Tracker early detection tool.  PCAP’s founder and CEO, Robert Hess, is himself a survivor of prostate cancer.

“Bicycling events are a key element in our prostate cancer awareness program and we are thrilled to be part of Pactimo’s 10in10 campaign, and to be able to have our supporters and survivors have the opportunity to wear one of Pactimo’s great designs,” said Robert Hess.  Hess noted that “These jerseys will help us raise money to continue our program and, more importantly, they are a gentle reminder to men about the importance of annual prostate cancer testing.”

Unlike most of our competitors, we own our factory and everyone who works there is an employee of Pactimo. That means we aren't leasing space in random factories around the globe where they may be making bedspreads one day and cycling clothing the next.

"We got up early in the morning for our Journey to Goodland Kansas where I was about to embark on a 9-day bike ride; I had never done anything like this before and was excited for this new challenge. Despite having started packing the week before, I was up till midnight checking on gear and feeling like I was forgetting something. We left Missouri at 7am and seemed to travel forever. About 8 hours later, we rolled into Goodland and got ourselves checked in and a camping spot secured for the night."
