Ruth Winder Wins Best Young Rider at Parx Casino Philadelphia Cycling Classic
Twenty year-old Ruth Winder of from Lafeyette, California won the Best Young Rider Jersey atop the famed Manayunk Wall in a hard fought UCI 1.2 event this past Saturday.
It was especially meaningful considering Ruth races for Vanderkitten and the team has a long association with the Philly race. Dave Verrecchia, Vanderkitten founder, is a Philly native, and even though the Vanderkitten brand originated in California, this UCI event has always been a highlight of the team’s athletic season. As a matter of fact, when Liz Hatch lead the original Vanderkitten charge in 2008 against some of the best teams in the world, Ruth was a 15 year old junior racing local events in California.
Since that time the Vanderkitten team has grown to race some of the best events in the USA and abroad, with Ruth graduating to USA National team status last year. And while race success has been achieved as far away as New Zealand, Belgium and El Salvador, the “hometown UCI race” has always eluded the outfit…until now!
Look for Vanderkitten at this weekends Tulsa Tough in Oklahoma and Air Force Classic in Virginia, before tackling the Nature Valley GP in Minnesota.
Pactimo is proud to be the custom cycling apparel partner for Vanderkitten Racing.
