Velo’s latest edition has hit the stands revealing the cycling publications awards in various categories including but not limited to Best Female Criterium Racer, Best Men’s and Women’s team, Domestic Ride of the Year, and Breakthrough Rider of the Year. The RIDECLEAN/PatentIt.com Elite Women’s Team took home the award for the 2012 Best Women’s Crit Racer of the Year.
For RIDECLEAN/PatentIt.com to be honored with an award in the company of teams such as Specialized-lululemon and Optum Pro Cycling is a huge accomplishment for the first year elite women’s team.
“Our team had a stand out season. We won the USA Crits Series team overall along with individual USA CRITS Series and National Criterium Calendar (NCC) victories. The fact that our RIDECLEAN/PatentIt.com team was recognized in such a high profile publication along side other outstanding racers and teams puts a clear stamp of success on our 2012 season” said Allar. Erica Allar opened her 2012 season with a win at the first stop on the USA Crits series — the Delray Beach Twilight Criterium — and there was no looking back. She continued to pick up criterium wins from coast to coast and closed out her season at the Tour of Vail criterium with a sprint victory and the USA Crits overall championship.
Allar’s RideClean/Patentit.com squad was small, but what it lacked in numbers it made up for in podium appearances. Allar even took the inaugural National Criterium Calendar overall, topping riders with much more experience and deeper team support.
Without a deep lead-out train, Allar’s victories can be chalked up to a great racing sense, a little luck, and most of all, one of the snappiest sprints in the peloton.
Pactimo is proud to be the RideClean/Patentit.com apparel partner.
