January 8, 2014
Riders and fans from all across America have descended upon Boulder, Colorado for the 2014 USA Cycling Cyclo-cross National Championships.
With Boulder hit with heavy snows over the previous weekend, racing from January 8 through 12 should be exciting and challenging, even with a sunny and warmer forecast. Non-championship and masters races held on Wednesday and Thursday will likely see the most slippery and muddy conditions, leaving a much drier and faster course at Valmont Park for the elite championship races on Saturday and Sunday.
Valmont Park has been called forty acres of awesome and it’ll be interesting to hear what racers think of the new course. But, with its diverse natural terrain, wide 5280 Run-up staircase, and long sandpit, there should plenty of opportunities for competitors to throw down their best stuff.
There’s also some fantastic advantage points for spectators to catch the action.
